CURRENT VERSION
v1.4

Released May 7, 2026

How to update

Download the new zip, unzip it into the same folder as your current copy, and double-click the new BetterDaysPlanner.html. Your saved data carries over automatically — the app reads the same browser storage as long as you open the new file from the same location.

Important: before updating, export a backup from Settings just in case. (We've never had an update break saved data, but it's a good habit.)

Version history

v1.4 — May 7, 2026
  • Inventory page now groups multi-lot items. When you have the same item across multiple shopping trips with different expiration dates, the inventory shows one summary row per item with a lot count (e.g. Canned tuna · 3 lots) and the earliest expiration date front and center. Click any group to expand and see each lot with its own quantity, location, and expiration. Single-lot items look exactly as they did before. Sort by expiration date — or filter to "expiring soon" — and groups auto-expand so the FIFO rotation view is one click away. An Expand all button next to the filters lets you see everything at once.
  • Smarter cart checkout — no more duplicate rows on same-day re-checkouts. If you check out the cart twice on the same day for the same item, the second checkout now sums into the existing inventory lot instead of creating a duplicate row. Next-day re-adds still create a separate lot so rotation order stays correct. The toast message tells you what happened: 3 added · 2 merged into existing lots.
v1.3 — May 2, 2026
  • App file renamed to BetterDaysPlanner.html. The HTML file inside the zip used to be called index.html — opaque when sitting in your Downloads folder weeks later. The new name tells you what the file is. No functional changes; your saved data carries over automatically as long as you unzip the new version into the same folder as your current copy.
v1.2 — April 26, 2026
  • Food + recipe library expansion. 53 → 68 foods (chickpeas, kidney beans, baked beans, canned soups, coconut milk, maple syrup, hot cocoa mix, and more). 28 → 39 recipes (curries, hummus, biscuits, three-bean chili).
  • Storage-basis transparency. Every food now declares whether its shelf life assumes mylar storage, can dating, sealed packaging, or indefinite. Visible on the Plan, Inventory, and Settings.
  • Hygiene category expanded. Added shampoo, deodorant, toothbrushes, razors, and shaving cream. Feminine products switched from ambiguous "packs" to count.
  • Per-food skip toggle with calorie redistribution. Skipping an item now redistributes its calories within the same category, so the household still hits its target.
  • Non-food cart workflow. Toilet paper, batteries, and other supplies now flow through the same cart system as food. Inventory page now shows non-food items.
  • Wired in the official Better Days Planner logo (mark, lockup, favicon, print headers).
v1.1 — April 25, 2026
  • Rebrand from Pantry Ready to Better Days Planner. All user-facing strings, the localStorage key, and backup filenames updated. One-time migration shim auto-imports legacy data.
  • Layered legal disclaimers in high-stakes areas (allergies, medications, emergency services).
  • Pet supplies fixed — pet food and water now scale by total pet body weight, not human count.
  • Non-food supplies merged into the Shopping List with a stockable cart pattern.
  • Smarter backup nudges, recipe-to-cart helper, tier milestones, USDA data verification.
v1.0 — April 25, 2026
  • Initial release. Full feature set: onboarding, household, plan, shopping list, inventory, recipes, non-food, NWS alerts (opt-in), six printable guides, dashboard, settings.
